Increase in school visits strengthens environmental education

Students from different levels have participated in guided tours, where they learn about biodiversity, conservation and the importance of local ecosystems. This growth reflects the interest of educational institutions in complementing learning in natural environments. The garden will continue to strengthen its educational programs to offer increasingly enriching experiences to students and teachers.
Workshop on plant propagation by cuttings

New educational signage on trails

Each point includes information about the species present, their ecological importance and curious facts that enrich the tour. This initiative seeks to encourage autonomous learning and strengthen the connection between visitors and nature.

Guided hike: Exploring the nocturnal flora

During the tour you will be able to observe: - Nocturnal flowering plants - Nocturnal pollinating insects - Characteristic sounds of the ecosystem The activity will be guided by experts and will last approximately 2 hours. Progress in secondary forest restoration

Thanks to the planting of native species such as savannah oak and guarumo, an increase in the presence of birds and pollinating insects has been observed. This effort is part of our commitment to ecological regeneration and the creation of sustainable habitats. Over the next few months we will continue to monitor the growth of the species and the recovery of the soil.
Practical workshop: Introduction to the cultivation of medicinal plants

Biodiversity Festival 2026

During the event, attendees will be able to enjoy: - Guided tours by botanical experts - Exhibitions of native and medicinal plants - Talks on sustainability and climate change Interactive activities for children The event will be held on Saturday, May 18, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Admission will have a symbolic cost to support our conservation programs.
New collection of native orchids blooms at La Catalina
Published on: 17/04/2026 by JosueLa Catalina Botanical Garden is pleased to announce the flowering of a new collection of native Costa Rican orchids, located in the central path of the garden. This collection includes species such as Cattleya skinneri (purple guaria) and Epidendrum radicans, carefully cultivated to highlight the local biodiversity. The initiative is part of our conservation and environmental education program, with the aim of raising awareness among visitors about the importance of protecting endemic species. We invite all our visitors to visit this section during the coming weeks, as many of these species have limited flowering periods.
