The La Catalina Botanical Garden team has made significant progress in the process of restoring the secondary forest located in the northern part of the garden. Thanks to the planting of native species such as savannah oak and guarumo, an increase in the presence of birds and pollinating insects has been observed. This effort is part of our commitment to ecological regeneration and the creation of sustainable habitats. Over the next few months we will continue to monitor the growth of the species and the recovery of the soil.

New collection of native orchids blooms at La Catalina

La Catalina Botanical Garden is pleased to announce the flowering of a new collection of native Costa Rican orchids, located in the central path of the garden. This collection includes species such as Cattleya skinneri (purple guaria) and Epidendrum radicans, carefully cultivated to highlight the local biodiversity. The initiative is part of our conservation and environmental education program, with the aim of raising awareness among visitors about the importance of protecting endemic species. We invite all our visitors to visit this section during the coming weeks, as many of these species have limited flowering periods.
